VICTORIAN WINTER HERBARIUM
A richly detailed winter botanical wall art print inspired by antique herbarium plates, seasonal plants and the darker side of Victorian floral illustration.
At the centre, a layered arrangement of winter flowers and foliage rises against a deep charcoal-black botanical field.
Large cream and burgundy hellebore-like blooms form the focal point, surrounded by holly, ivy, red berries, pale winter berries, dried seed heads and evergreen branches.
Throughout the composition:
· winter hellebore-style flowers
· glossy holly leaves
· red holly berries
· trailing ivy
· pale winter berries
· evergreen foliage
· dried seed pods
· botanical stems
· moth specimens
· small beetle studies
· crescent moon motifs
· antique stars and celestial ornament
The composition is deliberately symmetrical and archival in character, like a botanical plate assembled from winter specimens and preserved for an old seasonal collection.
The palette combines:
· parchment cream
· charcoal black
· deep botanical green
· burgundy
· winter red
· antique gold
· muted brown
The dark ground gives the flowers and leaves more weight than a traditional pale botanical print, while the aged border keeps the piece connected to antique herbarium illustration.
